Growing up, I had a dream that one day I’d have my own personal library. Not just a personal library, but a large one with floor to ceiling shelves, and a ladder to get me to the top! Like Belle from Beauty & the Beast.

After school on Fridays, I was the kid that ran to the library to check out as many books that were allowed for weekend reading. I believe we were allowed 3 or 4 but it wasn’t nearly enough.

In 2010, we opened our indie used bookstore J’aime Les Livres ( I Love Books — that’s simply what it means ). The name can be confusing and possibly intimidating to some who have never taken a course in French; I hope that hasn’t kept you away!

I truly believe that literacy is important for all…you’ve heard it before: if you’re a reader you’re a leader, a better writer, and even a better speaker.
